Sweden 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Java Black
the one by one Rover?

I think iīll have to send this car to the scrappers Sad Iīve NEVER during my 35 years on this earth experience a more broken vehicle than this one Smile

Old issues.
Tranny not 100% well even after Ģ2000 new TC / Pump restorating.
Leaks oil from heads, not PCV related. No big issue.
slight vibration around 60

New issues this weekend:
1. Hole in right front suspension bag, lowered with iidtool by 20mm and it stays up enough to drive without depleting the resevouir over and over
2. Coolant leak, draining the resevoir over night , maybe 1l / day dripping.


And now the stranges of them all ! THE ONE WHEEL DRIVE ROVER !!! (and one brake)

So.. was driving along to a stoplight, and as i break I hear the right front wheel locking up,. Itīs -1c here so I donīt think much of it.. maybe a patch of ice even tho the roads are clear. As I hit the accelerator to move off Right front wheel spins, acctually leaving tire-marks in the asphalt !.. Car drive straight and true.. but feels like ALL brakeing and power is going to the right front wheel !?.

Any ideas ? I scanned ith iid-tool, no errors.

Sounds like a broken drive shaft of diff to me...

you do have a very early FF so maybe it hasnt been maintained properly during ownership before you, saying that in temperatures and conditions in sweden as they are, you will find an acceleration in parts wearing out.. ... - .- -.

Dunno, Its 120k and 13 years old, anything can happen:) and it does

I can handle it, given time :j not perfekt with a 4month old at home tho.

But can a broken driveshaft do this ?

I looked up the history now.

Front diff was replaced 2010 under warranty after it had failed at apx 140 000km

Just a thought, but have you had the front differential propshaft recall done on the car?

Yea,, not sure they did something about the Prop-shaft tho Sad Only states that they rebuilt the front Diff.

Check on the Wiki, I'm sure that if it has been done under the recall there is a U/J on the front propshaft where it enters the front differential.

The problem lay in the design of the front driveshaft, which had no flexible coupling at the front end, so any minor misalignment put severe stress on the front diff input splines, leading to failure and immobilization of the vehicle.

Iīm getting confused / propeller / drive shafts ?

Which shafts goes to the Wheels and which goes to the transfercase ?

Propshaft / Driveshaft is the same thing.

There is a transfer box that sits on the output side of the gearbox which transfers drive to the front wheels via a drive/prop shaft into the front differential, then to the front wheels via 2 driveshafts.

Could a severly stuck caliper cause these issues ? I did not drive the car very far. Didnīt smell any burning.

Update:

Today.. no issues. before taking a test-drive I lifted the car and looked for loose wires, found none, But i jiggled all the connectors I could find. Took the car for a test-drive. No issues !

My guess.. faulty signal to ABS / TRACTION ECU reporting speed 0 for that wheel. causing TC to brake the other three when accelerating. And something similar while applying the brakes.

I had no fault codes for ABS and TC and everything else works perfectly. Iīll be replacing the ABS sensors anyway.

so for now..

Oil, coolant, air leaks to be dealt with Wink
