A friend of mine who works in the Shetlands had to catch two ferries to attend an emergency burglary call, needless to say the offenders got away Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty, nothing else matters.

I was lucky my fire station was in mainland Argyll and when I needed special back up like say water rescue I could get it in say 2 1/2 to 3 hours and once I was the first on scene incident commander when I went to pumps 7 ( actually 9 but didn't want to go to major incident ) we didn't have seven appliances in Argyll so again fire engines were leaving Glasgow under blues and two's for over two hours to attend.
