Scuffs / Marks in the exhaust area?

Just a quick query as a novice in FFR land - i've noticed a few examples on autotrader / ebay have scuffs / marks on the exhaust area as per the image attached.

How does this occur and should it be a concern when viewing a potential purchase?

Thanks

Hi Stan, would you say its just standard wear and tear then?

Just wanted to make sure it wasnt a sign of abuse that's all.

The photo is of a 5.0 SC 59 plate thats been on for 26k for a while near me that seems tempting, if it was black i probably would have gone for it by now.

The rear box usually has two patches where the paint gets burnt off in line with the exhaust inlets into the front of it, as Stan says, you can paint it but it doesn't last long, did mine, prepared it well, used some etch primer and heat resistant paint and it still fell off after a while.... Pete

The missing R and missing offside rear bumper reflector might suggest that it has not been that well cared for and/or prepped for sale.

Is it the photo or is the nearside rear light cluster fume damaged. looks a bit brown to me.

painted my back box and tail pipes with hammerite satin finish a few weeks ago. still looking good so fingers crossed. did it on a whim with no primer or prep - just past 30 mins thinking great if it works, do it again properly f it don't. so far so good. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

This is from another angle, it does look darker in this pic as well.

nice rims tho.

if that light cluster is darkened presumably from fumes, plus the reflector / badge etc does this not sound an alarm regarding previous care plus the standards of the dealer?

Time to walk away??? Sad

I'm only guessing.

I haven't seen it, I'm still at the online browsing and watching prices stage. This thread has demonstrated the need to get a car checked over professionally when I do decide to move forward though. I had spotted the nice shiny rims and not the fumed light and missing reflector Rolling Eyes

Nah, the Chinese versions are now called Wange Wovers. I would get it checked out if you are interested. Missing letter and dodgy rear lens makes me wonder what else needs attention. Nice colour though, take it from me, Black Fullfats are a Censored to keep clean! SDV8 AB MY 2019

+2 on the black. I wouldn't go there again for the cleaning reason. Nice on the first day, not so from then on. My stornaway grey looks just as nice when cleaned but tends to also look cleaner for longer. My wife has a black BMW which is a total nightmare to the point where we don't bother much anymore.

See past the shiny bits and look at the bones.
