Sorry but where do you get the 10k from? Same year is 4000 so I guess it totally depends on the age of the 4.2 |

My only reason NOT to buy one was the use of the ageing 6 speed box

They may have made a 2009 4.2 but it would be interesting to see how many were sold , the only one I have ever see was a white left hand drive and it was for sale in Dunbarton for really optimistic money . 2008 MY Supercharged

They are rare but they did make them. Saw one recently (optimistically) for sale alongside 5.0's at just a small amount less. |

I agree with Craig, the 5.0 should have had a 8 speed box for sure even though it doesn't need with the amount of torque it has over the entire rev range. I bet the reason is development cost and/or time would have been too much at the time to mate the 5.0 with the 8 speed. These days there is so much testing and programming needed that it must have been resources (not enough people to do the job) or pure cost or regarded as not necessary with the 5.0 SC.

Having owned a L322 5.0 SC and now a L405 with the same engine, I must say it is not really the gearbox that sets the two apart but the chassis (with Adaptive Dynamics) and the weight loss. Yes the gearbox is better but it is not like "waw that gearbox was really what the engine needed" if you understand what I mean! |

I really like the smooth as silk 8-Speed but I also like the more pronounced gear changes of the 6-speed in a 5.0...
