Still undecided what to do 5.0l or not?

Right so driving swmbo to work the other day mentioned that I can't get LR warranty as my 4.2 has 107k on the clock - she says what do we need to do (note the we Thumbs Up ) I say buy a new one with about 60k on the clock she says how much I say my car plus anything between 15 and 25 k she says is that all.
But the dilemma is mine is buck blue with parchment in extremely good nick full JLR service history not a fault code showing just been detailed had new gearbox under warranty at 100k fbh replaced last week and only one cosmetic mark inside on the switch panel on drivers door couple of hundred quid and all sorted. Had new front ball joint new front boots and new rear suspension.
Should I change I would be really peed off if I changed and ended up with a dog????

Stick with it and keep the money somewhere safe instead Smile when it comes to easter next year and no snow has hit the prices will drop a bit more and make it even more affordable. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Not a bad plan as the JLR warranty is good till the 26th feb next year Thumbs Up Then I can still put a Warranty Direct or similar on it (didn't mention this to my dearly beloved Embarassed )

To be honest Stan I think I was lucky with mine as it is a good one the bloke that had it before worked in the city and was completely useless with cars and just put it into the main dealer for everything when I bought it I got every invoice for every service tyres even 30 quid for a rear wiper blade and fitting so maybe I would be tempting fate

@Sandyt: you want to, you really want to, you really really want to Twisted Evil Mr. Green Twisted Evil .

Just think of it, 5.0SC with a smaller pulley and remap - northwards of 600bhp - if not still 510hp to play around with.

You can do it, you can do it or as Nike says "Just do it"

Or do what I did.

Keep the 4.2 as it's a lovely thing by itself and only lives in the shadow of the 5.0 because you're on here.

Spend the difference you would have spent upgrading on a nice classic for the weekend. At least that way you shouldn't lose the funds in depreciation. Si. <This is my name.

Vnitos, could you recommend brands/fitter for the upgrade as this is really tempting. Do you know if it can be done on high milers or if one is better if fitted on newish ones only? l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

If the cost of the upgrade is worth it to you, go for the 5.0 SC they are a big step up from the 4.2. I didn't have a choice (really) and I was able to stretch my budget to the 5.0 I have now and I don't regret it for a second Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

If you have a perfectly good 4.2 and you know the biggest part of the history o0f the car and everything works on it why pay an extra £15/£20k for what ... a car that says 5.0 Litres and into the bargain you could be buying a bag of S.hit.e that may end up giving you all sorts of problems ...

Better the devil you and all that ...

The 5.0 Litre might be a nice car but you can only do 70mph ... Why rush to your death quicker in a faster car by a second Laughing Laughing

Mick what happened to you that you are turning into a party pooper ??? Been out of an FFRR for too long I guess, turns a person sour, depressed and suicidal I guess Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Press the loud pedal in a 5.0 SC just once and you don't give a frak about the extra money you had to pay for it, believe me I know !!!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
