2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Aintree Green

Ooh, look! An internet hard man! A bit of completely irrelevant disability guilt thrown in too!

Lighten up (and last time I checked going on holiday wasn't working anyway).

Err hmmm - getting back on subject. Does this lightweight leisure trailer count? I haven't got one of the tri-axle loaded with 4te of round bales Thumbs Up

The trailer takes all 3 of our horses so most weekends, this one no exception, we go-a-cantering through Newcastleton Forest for a few hours!!

You can't do that in a hotel room Ner Ner

EEERRRRRR - weight is only a figment of the imagination Very Happy

We don't have anything huge - mine, Chris, is a 16.2hh IDxTB. Wifeys (Tarka) is a 14.2hh Cob and Jackie's (Crystal) is a 12.2hh Welsh (Jackie is 8 so good match). I guess we could be overloaded but not by that much and we are only travelling a couple of miles down the road. Whistle

As we progress we'll move up to a truck but I don't want to hurry this as I remember the hassle with MOT, tax, insurance etc from our race truck a few years back.

Riccarton, steer well clear of a horse lorry unless you can get a newish Oakley or whatever, they are a money pit as you allude to with the race trucks. Far better to tow, would be more cost effective to buy another L322 and a trailer than a lorry, trust me, bain of my bloody life, Thumbs Up We have had 4 in the last 10 years and I have lost the will to live with their running costs, if you do the man maths I could be running a fleet of 5.0 SCs per mile , rant over Thumbs Up

Fair play sir Thumbs Up , your bark-ing mad though, I use the Landrover for that capper ! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I could do with some dry timber for the fire now though Laughing

Cant join the club as I like a clean FF inside......its the other fleet which work! If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I can sympathise regarding horse lorries. I've got an old Ford cargo which has an unhealthy love affair with my wallet. Had it near on 4 years, new engine in the first year, numourous blow outs, leaking roof and new brakes to name a few issues. In garage now for its pre plating check and surprise ssurprise it needs new this and that - every plating costs £500 + and that's before I add fuel for every trip out. 6litre diesel gets through a lot and it's slower than a tortoise up hills. Trouble is we need something to carry horses and for us to sleep in as kids compete a lot so kind of stuck with lorries - no way I'm going back to a horse trailer and tent!!

Ifor Williams Eventa with full living???

I have a plan for an alloy horse body with living on a 16' tri-axle trailer but not sure which will be most cost effective. I'll draw it up and get our largest supplier to give me a quote with plenty of healthy hints that it is for me and not the company Thumbs Up

That would be ideal but wondering what the weight would be with two ponies loaded plus all the stuff that goes with them? I could make a fibreglass body but doubt it'll be hugely lighter than an alloy body if at all. It would be much easier just to have a trailer instead of the cost of a lorry.

Just out of interest, if I design it I'll let you know the weight / cost so you can have a laugh at my expense (or I could gloat). Very Happy

I'll await further details Thumbs Up The eventa looks a viable option - do you know what the maximum length trailer a FF can tow legally?
