ULF Module.

I removed the ulf module from the motor today.

I haven't checked that it worked yet, but wouldn't mind having it working now I have sorted the leaky boot section of the motor out (thanks to Dan for the new rear seal).
I also removed the wiring harness, which is about 5 feet too long so I need to shorten it.

It looks a bit Heath Robinson especially on the white connector, what does the push button switch do? I am presuming it is the correct harness?
This is the plug/socket fitted to the motor that I unplugged it from.

Does everything look fine, or would there be a diagram to check the wires?
The only other thing I have done is remove the 3 microphone wires from the plug that goes to the ulf, so I could remove and shorten the harness.

It could look a bit cobbled together as the ULF was never fitted to our cars, so the loom has to be rewired for it to work, as you prob know. The push button is likely to be used to put the unit into pairing mode so you can pair your mobile phone to it.

Mit ses is with voice, so you can issue voice commands to it.

Most people pay an arm and a leg for the later units, let alone the loom.

Have a search for ulf on here and you will see loads of info.

Do you have the screen in the dash ? Did you have Telephone as an option on it before you disconnected it ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Just had another read of your post Steve - realised you took it from another vehicle...... In which case I'd bet that the loom will have the connector set up correctly already. There have been a few wiring diagrams posted on here in the past. From memory, the pairing button goes to pins 32 and 36.

If your car is prewired for phone, you will have the black connector in your car already, but it will be wired for a Telephone Control Module or TCM not a ULF, so don't use it - simply disconnect it as the white plug and attach your new loom.

Use a wiring chart to check the old connector to new on a few wires to give confidence it's good.

You will need a bluetooth antenna and a mic in the front of your car and you will be away. The antenna cable and mic lead should be in your car already if it's prewired or indeed already has a handset in the front console.

Give us a bit more info and we can help more....

there was a chap who done a pre wired loom that converted it to the bmw ulf and had the option of the pairing button, this was about a meter long, you but double check before you plug the unit in as you will kill if it has not been rewired V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

To possibly help your checking, here are the repin charts for converting what you didn't have to what you should have now...... from previous posts and fellow ffrr members

Thanks for the wiring diagrams mjdronfield. I have removed the unit from our motor as I wanted to shorten the loom and before any damage could be caused to it due to a leaking back door seal, which I have replaced.
There are some green coloured pins to the multi socket in the ulf module, so I will be checking them first.
It has the 3 wire microphone in the light unit above the rear view mirror, push button on steering wheel and I have the satnav screen (non touchscreen) to the middle of the motor, even though it is an HSE.
I will go through the charts and check the wiring.
I don't know if it worked or not when I got the motor as I didn't try it out. There is nothing in the centre console.
Nice to see that I have one of the later modules Daveo, will let you know when I get it working.

No problem.

If you had Telephone available on the sat nav screen it was working, as it will have identified itself on the iBus. So if you remembered seeing that, you will be fine.

You may need to activate voice control with something like Navcoder, if you want to use that facility. Don't think its activated by default.

Checked the wiring today and connected the unit up. Telephone appeared on the centre screen.
Disconnected and shortened the wiring to a length of 12 inches instead of 6 feet. Refitted and got it working. The hardest bit was the pairing faff until I read on here how to do it.
Need the Navcoder now to enable voice.

Excellent. Always fun with the pairing button in the boot, dashing to turn the key Laughing

A job well done.

It's worth the effort to enable the voice, as you can voice dial and get the sat Nav back on the display by shouting MAP at it ! 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
