Service required and low battery

My new car flashes up "service required" for a second or two when I start it, I have reset the Service Counter with the IDTool but no change. Should I be worried or is it normal behaviour.

The other problem is that the battery level drops very quickly to less than 12 volts and the car suggests starting the engine then all is good as the alternator kicks out 14.4 volts. It always starts easily but is it new battery time?

I love having a new car as there are always little niggles to keep you busy and empty you wallet - love it Very Happy Geoff

Just when starting? I know you have the video instrument panel, but could it just be the "bulb check" signalling the all cars do?

Actually that was what I was hoping someone might say, would be good to get it confirmed (or otherwise) from someone with a similar vehicle Thumbs Up Geoff

Mine L322 5.0L SC didn't have the low battery message on start up. When it says low battery you do have a low battery. I know there's an update your dealer should do and also a later model larger capacity battery.

I think there have been one or two updates to the BMS since your car rolled off the line, might be worth checking it out. The iid tool can do flash updates now can't it? Also is your car not fitted with an agm battery? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I had no low battery messages on my 5.0 SC so you may have an issue that the battery is actually low/dying. It would be good to get the total alternator output checked (so also current) and have current drain checked to see if that is within limits. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
