Question. When a LR dealer / Indy (whoever) reflashes the gearbox software do the adaptions need to be reset too? Or can the new software be flashed without the adaption reset? 2006 4.2 SC

Ive re-read the whole thread, when reflashing software resetting the adaptation is required.

The Big Gearbox places like A1 Premier Transmissions will do an overhaul for under £2k but complete rebuild £2.5-3k.

Any then there's that place in Germany..... Idea

Forgive my ignorance here, but aren't the symptoms Salb is experiencing common with the ZF 6 speed gearbox ?
Mine does it to some extent (although 4.4 AJV8) when changing down.
I made a note some time ago (can't remember if it was from the Forum or not . . . ) of a Technical Bulletin, titled:
Gearbox Upgrade LTB 00267
"Harsh Transmission (1 - 2) & (2 - 3) Lift Off Throttle and (3 - 2) & (2 - 1) Rollout"

Is this the "upgrade" mentioned by others ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Sal if anything, take it to a Land Rover dealer/tech who can re-flash the gearbox software. If the oil is changed on a SC gearbox then it can lead to preload issues from the transfer box. Never get the oil changed and adaptions reset as it often causes premature failure... Lots of technical stuff im afraid!

If it helps, PM me and i'll forward you the details we were sent by LandRover about the above. Warning us not to.

Craig Thumbs Up

Craig,

I realize this is an old thread but I was hoping you might be able to PM me that information. I'm currently trying to decide if I should change the fluid in my 6HP26 or not. Very hard decision when multiple professionals have different opinions.

If your opinion has changed or you have any info from LR you can pass on would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Unnecessary quote removed

The official oil change interval from ZF is 75k, reduced to 50k if you do a lot of towing.

I changed the oil in my own gearbox t 115k miles, but it was too late at that point. The damage was done, and the box is Censored

FWIW, I have also flushed 3 S/C models, between FFRR + RRS, and never had an issue, though they were all under 100k Thumbs Up

Before the 5.0 SC is shipped to Malaysia, I will have the ATF and filter replaced. Ideally first a Megaflush and then filter change so the oil is as clean/fresh as possible. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'm so confused. I'm 500 miles away from 100k and wanted to get a megaflush and then filter swap/top up etc.

1. I don't know anywhere near me that does that
2. I don't want to knacker my Transfer box!

No idea what to do. Neutral
