Plastic manifold becomes very brittle with age, not worth the seals alone, change the whole thing, I'd do the oil rad as well as they get blocked with time as well...

Thanks Pete - I had pretty much decided that course after more research. Can get the oil cooler for good price from one of my suppliers and will likely replace thermostat as well as manifold at same time.

Just try the rad drain cock and see how fast the water comes out with the expansion cap off, if it's slow it will need a good flush or even a new rad, they block at the bottom....
