well never lasted long enough for the stealers chap came to do chip and it cracked so new screen it is . So question is what rights do I have to insist on a Landrover Screen ?? or am I at the mercy of the insurance company?

Also read somewhere that the Landrover stamped windscreens are softer than others or is this just b*ll*x

When my BMW 730 Sport picked up a chip on the screen, i took it to National since they were in bed with the insurers.

I asked for a genuine BMW screen and was told that since the car was just over 3 years old, they would not normally replace it with an OE screen.

Full credit to the fitter, he called the insurers and they agreed to OE.

Down to the insurer really, best bet is a pilkington screen should be able to get one from insurer, same as the original but no LR stamp.

But worth asking the question! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'd be questioning your insurance cover firstly. Check your documentation - is this extra charge specified ?
I had mine replaced last year by Autoglass via Tesco insurance. AG would have fitted a non Genuine screen until I told them I wanted one. They fitted a Genuine screen with no questions asked and no further contact with Tesco Insurance.
If the insurance are pulling this stunt, tell them you'll go elsewhere come renewal time -

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Yes it is the insurance company that say it has to be manufacturer equivalent and if I want the original the excess applies - I can see where it comes from as Landrover want way over a grand for supply only. Autoglass have said that the non LR one comes from the same factory and has the following spec LANDROVER RANGE ROVER 5J 2002-ON WINDSCREEN-GREEN+ACOUSTIC+GREEN TOP TINT+HEATED+VIN+MOISTURE SENSOR+ROUND BOSS
So do I just pay the 325 ??

I did Stan and Autoglass assure me the specification is exactly the same but it will not have Landrover stamp in bottom left hand corner - is it the sort of thing that would have an effect on resale value ? Cant see it really but you never know

i doubt if anyone will look for the LR logo on the windscreen if/when you sell.

i've just looked at mine and its a pilkington brand, no LR logo ..

i'd go for the non LR one.. ... - .- -.
