I was thinking of doing a front end conversion to my car (2007) but the eventual plan is to buy a another 2010 or later which of course will be the later front end so I might not bother. The question is I currently think 15k for mine 30k for its replacement so I have to find 15k - however if I wait will the gap get smaller e.g. Next year £13k for mine but 26k for the replacement so I only have to add £13k and so on.

Gazillio might be your best bet on this.

From what I have seen on Autotrader, early L322s (2003 for example) with the facelift always seem to command a premium of £2-3k minimum over their non facelift alternatives, I would guess this might be the same for a 2007 model too.

So it all depends on what you pay for the conversion and how soon you are thinking of upgrading to the 2010 car. I don't think you would lose any money, but you probably won't gain much. It should make selling it easier though. Tom

if yours is ok and you're happy with it then a £3-4k facelift could be the best bet and it would save the hassle of selling yours and its better the devil you know than the devil you dont and tbh ,these FF's can be hell .. ... - .- -.

Really cannot understand the reasoning of spending £4k trying to make a car look a bit newer, but still obsolete.

Looks worse, fools no-one, you won't get your money back, has none of the improvements of the newer car and will surely condemn it to the attentions of mouth-breathers when you want rid.

^ LOL, well I have said that exact same thing on several occasions. Also, not all newer items are "Upgrades". I've discovered that the LCD dash in the 2010 model goes completely black when I'm wearing my polarised sunglasses.

Ask Mick about the 2010 brake upgrade over the 2009 Brembos.

And wait for 2 winters worth of rain getting into the headlight looms where they've been cut and not re-sealed properly.

If you like the look of a newer car then buy a newer car, oh and never try to justify the money. All cars are moneypits, you buy them with your heart, not your head. If it were a decision based on logic then we'd all drive 100+mpg superminis.

I thought - dinnae shoot me doon in flames - that a professionally done 2010MY onwards exterior facelift was circa £4k and that, currently at least, you might just about get your money back ("your facelift money") come resale time on the basis that a properly done "facelifted one" does command a couple of/ a few thousand GBP more than a stock one (ie you won't make a profit from paying for your facelift but you won't make a huge loss either)?

And I'm interested in the answer to this because I'm wondering (only wondering mind) whether or not a facelift might be fun, although I do like the car as it looks in stock form.

Notwithstanding the adage that you should buy, look after, use and "tweak" your personal effects for your own enjoyment first and foremost.

lets see a 40 to 50k car to sit on the drive and impress neighbors or a mint older 10 to 12k with conv which 95% wont know the diff cash to burn comes to mind and if you want performance etc get an sports car or cayenne yuck a FFRR plodder is fine for what it was designed for and if a conv is what a lot can afford fair play it still looks the part and same money 10ft away  _____________________________________________________
