Progress update

Had a spare hour this afternoon and have changed the driver's sidelight bulb and the driver's side full beam bulb as follows:

Sidelight bulbs - Thanks to Prop. These LED bulbs are superb. Cannot believe how good a match/ within acceptable limits powerful they are compared to the dipped beam xenon. Incredible and highlight the OEM bulbs for what they are which is unisghtly yellow, dated, out of place and ineffective:
LED @ £9.95/pair (T10 501 W5W Can-Bus LED 10-SMD 5630 bulbs):

Full beam bulbs - As sourced by me but best price found by Prop. Thanks again Prop. These bulbs are incredibly powerful in comparison to the OEM bulbs. They are legal. In daylight I think the colour is not much different to the existing OEM full beam but the improvement in performance would appear to be vast. Will check later in the dark. I would prefer that they matched the dipped beam xenon and the upgrade sidelight colour more but for £6.77 per bulb delivered, there can be no complaints:
H7 55W @ £13.55/pair (Halogen/ xenon):

Thanks Prop Thumbs Up

pld118, glad I could help, nice to hear your happy with the side lights, they really do make a vast difference. £10 for the pair may seem a bit expensive but in my opinion there pretty good quality so should hopefully last as well as they look.

As to the high beam replacements it sounds like your choice there is again much better than standard. Colour match is not as relevant on these in my opinion as there only on occasionally for flashing and on dark unlit roads with no oncoming traffic etc so not really as much of a visual impact as the side lights.

Will be interesting to see how the replacement indicator bulbs look when you finally get and install them.

@Prop, I thought £10 for the pair of sidelight bulbs was cheap and the difference in the performance of the lights and the look they give as well is surely worth £10 and 10 minutes 'work'. Maybe they are slightly erring towards a bluer tinge than the OEM dipped beam xenon bulb, however the match is excellent and side by side it all looks right.

Fitted the passenger sidelight and full beam bulbs too yesterday and used them in the dark. Very impressive performance all round. Just goes to show that a bit of forum info sharing and research maybe takes a wee bit of time but is well worth the effort imo Thumbs Up

And good tip by Stan about putting a towel or cloth on the top lip of the bumper to stop the paintwork getting damaged when removing the headlight units, which are simple to take out and put back.

Waiting for the indicator bulbs to arrive now and ready to buy upgrade adaptive cornering H8 bulbs.

@ Prop, do you think the ones I'm interested in will be a similar good match with the sidelight and dipped beam xenon bulbs (I know they only come on for a few seconds)?

** Re the above sidelight bulbs, they are not cheap at £32.95. The selling UK based (I think) company has said they will give me a 10% discount for ordering a pair.

Thanks again Thumbs Up

The cornering lights you mention are rated as 6000k so will be very slightly blue in hue. The will most likely be a very similar colour to the new side light bulbs you fitted and will certainly be a much closer match in terms of colour compared to the existing halogen cornering bulbs.

The cornering light your interested in at £16-50 each is not too bad if you compare the more complex nature of multi led bulbs etc. The bulb is made of one forward firing 5w CREE led and 8 Osram High Power 3w leds. The 5w CREE will definitely be bright but being used as a forward firing type behind a lens I am not sure how much this will add to the cornering function as this is all done with reflectors in the actual light housing. As for the remaining Osram leds I have never personally seen this led in action so can't comment. But as the whole bulb is rated at 800 lumen I imagine it will be comparable in brightness.

Do you think I did something wrong?

It,s a parody reference to how bright we hope the indicator bulbs will be compared to the current candles fitted in the rear range rover indicator lights. Rolling with laughter

Let's hope the end result is nothing like your picture Rolling with laughter

Prop,

Briefly, deviating to the rear lamp unit:

The owner's handbook says (page 272) that the brake lamps are LED's.

The tail lamp (rear 'sidelight' bulb) appears from the handbook to be a 5W halogen bulb. Would the below linked LED I've put in place of the 5W front sidelights fit in the tail lamp as it seems to make sense that if the brake lights are LED, if I'm adding rear indicator LED bulbs, then finish the job by upgrading to rear tail lamp LED bulbs too?

Thanks

Morning Stan,

Taking the image and the thumbs up as a sign that I'm good to go and order the same LED bulb for the rear unit then?

If so, I'll today order a pair plus those cornering bulbs I've been going on about as both are sold by the same company.

Thanks

As Stan states the rear tail/fog lights are different from the front side light bulbs. Not sure what benefit there would be in replacing these, but nothing to stop you from doing it I guess.

Also not sure what the deal would be in how the the tail/fog side of things would operate with an LED replacement as one of the bulbs is a single bulb fulfilling two tasks tail and fog, if I read things right from Stan's diagram.

With the current setup I would not see the need to replace these as there will not be any benefit in terms of colour match etc. And if anything you may end up making your rear tail lights look too bright etc. The rear indicators on the other hand could definitely benefit from brighter bulbs so hopefully the new bulbs you ordered will rectify this issue.

Which LED side repeaters?

Which LED side repeaters to order (they must compliment and perform/ look right with “amber” 30W equivelant [6 x 5W Cree], 500 Lumen, all round LED indicator bulbs that are now fitted to the car and which although described as amber, are very much of the right up to date and modern LED yellow look)?

* Amber/Yellow/Orange side repeaters from car-mod-shop-ltd:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amber-Yellow-Ora...4161b2cee1

(or)

** White side repeaters from UWLLED-UK (they are definitely based in and ship from Shanghai, appearing to be a very good supplier and have already provided a sound before and after sales service, having promptly supplied me with 4 x excellent main indicator LED bulbs):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-T10-W5W-501-8...4aa76cf306

(or)

*** Is anyone aware of a better upgrade LED side repeater alternative?

Not concerned about cost of the bulb, just want them to be of good quality etc.

Thanks
