Can you stop the steering wheel from retracting?

Mine's started working again and every time I turn the car off it retracts. This is: -

a) Irritating.

b) I know it will break in the wrong position sometime.

Can I stop it - e.g. is there a fuse I can pull or a wire? I'd rather it just stayed in one position (the correct one) than it breaks in the wrong one.

Thanks - couldn't find anything on this?

IID Tool lets you deactivate it - I did it as soon as I got my IID as like you, I was pretty sure that it would break at some point Rolling with laughter Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

I turned my "easy entry/exit" feature off with the IDTool. The adjuster stalk still works so the wheel can be fine tuned after placing ones behind in the drivers seat and the memory positions still work. Geoff

David, if it has not worked until now, first try a battery reset... If that does not work just unplug the motor Thumbs Up Very simple Thumbs Up

When i next see you i'll turn the auto feature off...

I have no ID tool. Sad

Is there another temporary way until my next shop visit?

Hi Craig - it started working again when I had the tyres changed and the tracking done. Bizzare that it just decided to start again.

Have you tried turning the steering column adjuster? Push, pull ,up and down moves the column and a twist should switch the automatic retract on and off.

Maybe! Whistle

What about puting it all the way in then saving to memory that position? Or would that be too far away for you to drive? Previously..

What I should have said is to set the steering wheel where you want it and then take out the fuses, it would stay in that position.

My steering wheel, motors down sometimes when I put the key in the ignition. I can then return it with the normal adjustment lever. I wondered if it was the key fob memory had glitches that was affecting the seat and steering wheel memory module settings.

I did replace the batteries but that didn't do anything. It only does at on rare occasions at present. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8, 2017 L405 Autobiography
