Near Miss

Nearly got wiped out by a small hatcback today... Travelling happily to a football match in the RR with my 12 year old son on a damp road when someone driving too fast/ without due care coming out of an oncoming bend completely lost it, ending up doing a high speed 360 and a half. It was one of those fast but surreal - everything appeared to go Slow mo' - moments. I wasn't driving at all fast but was convinced impact was inevitable. The high driving position and good visibility that the RR affords were an advantage though. I had no option but to wait until the last moment before mounting the kerb as the footpath was definitely clear and otherwise a collision/ serious damage would have been caused by the other car which spun unavoidably into my path.

Thankfully, the other car was unscathed, nobody got hurt (apart from the apologetic woman's frayed nerves). No obvious damage was caused to the nearside alloys or to the front nearside suspension which took the brunt when mounting the kerb but the Nexen tyres left their black rubber impact marks on the rim edges. A lucky escape.

Thud

Lucky escape.. Shocked

I would be giving that nexen a thorough check over as the walls are that soft a hard collision like that could easily damage it.
This was mine after a low speed bump on a pot hole.... Shocked

Cheers Stan... The [not so] wee man's face was a picture when it all came to a standstill... It was like one of those Final Destination movies as it unfolded. My closest shave whilst driving to date. Think we would have been fine touch wood. They say your life flashes before you... It was another trip to the main dealer that flashed before me! Rolling with laughter

Glad to hear everyone was unharmed. I agree with others about checking your tyres and rims very carefully for damage.

Another thing that may have been affected if you hit the curb with some force is the tracking, not sure if it would be worth while getting it checked after such an incidence.

Cool head, skill and a bit of luck seems to be the recipe for this. Glad you are both OK.

Suggest to have the tyres and suspension checked out carefully, just to be sure. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
