Ok I start a new job mainly based in Aberdeen and I live about 120 miles away. Going to mainly be up Monday back Thurs eve.

I have my now fully functional and Brembo upgraded 2003 HSE 4.4 which is coming in at around about 17mpg.....

Do I just suck it up and keep the FF or do I go for the 30mpg gig and drop down to a FL or consider a TDV6 RRS ?

Anybody done anything similar ?

If its just one trip up and back again with no mileage inbetween, then suck it up I would say....
If it was commuting everyday, you would be mad not to buy a 45mpg+ diesel shed....
What you would save in fuel by selling the fattie would be lost in the extra money spent in buying something else.. IMO

Edit... Just worked out.. 240 round trip... 17mpg = 64L at £1.39 = £89 per week.
Over 40 weeks that's £3560..... Mmmm, I see what you mean. 17mpg will be at best I take it? Previously..

Yep 17mpg is decent from what I gather from other v8 owners. Taking into account though the difference between 17mpg and 30mpg it is actually roughly £1,500 a year or £125 a month.

I doubt if I chop in the FF and get finance for £125pcm I am actually going to get very much for it.....

LPG it. I get 28 mixed and recently got 30MPG (equivalent) on a long trip to france. that's better than my old TD6!

Do you really need to drive? There's a good train service between the 2 cities.

I'm doing that trip (well from Glasgow) on Monday until Thursday and leaving the car at home. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Lol. I do need to drive as I have got to be mobile to go see clients in and around Aberdeen. I love the train journey though from Stirling to Aberdeen - truly breath-taking.

Re LPG I am not convinced despite having had it on my old P38. Given the 80-85% efficiency rating as well as the cost ration and cost of install I think it is now marginal (see good response from fitter in LPG area of forum).

I guess for now I think I will just live with the fuel consumption as I absolutely and utterly love the FF. If someone wants to swap me a nice TDV8 for my bus plus cash happy but I suspect not so it's not the worst thing in the world.

You could get a nice S/C for TDV8 money which will be more economical than your 4.4. Trust me, that's from personal experience. Hell, it won't make sense but at least you'll have a very decent mid-range to punt past the dawdlers. Si. <This is my name.
