TDv8 drive stutter

I'm getting an intermittent drive stutter when stopped and driving off, like the brakes are being jabbed?
What is that?

Definitely sounds like a sticky Injector buy some QUALITY fuel system cleaner and put that in then run for 20-50 miles it should clean it up and it should then be running smoothly. Thumbs Up

PS: Common on higher mileage TDV8.

It's got 83k, which cleaner is best not to damage anything- only happens when it's cold.

I always used redex injector cleaner. I would buy it from asda as it was always on sale, and double dose it every few months. There are quite a few cleaners for sale, I don't suppose any are much better or worse than the others.. Previously..

Sounds brake related to me, i would strip and clean all the calipers and then see what its like. I had a drive which felt like it was snatching a bit, turned out to be a sticking rear caliper, but if you have a judder under heavy breaking then i would get the runout checked on the front discs, however warping one of those big vented jobbies would be quite tricky.

The brembos are fairly robust but not beyond the possibility that one is sticking. Do the usual trick of having a 10-15 min drive round, then park up and see if any of the discs are still red hot. If so that caliper is sticking. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Lumpy stuttering was worse tonight, seams to happen after a short drive and its left for a while then started agin. over 2000rpm it's ok, and once warm it's ok.
Ordered bg244 but think its going to need more than that, trouble is I'm going to France next week and worried now about the driving, Need a decent garage in notts.

If it stutters more frequently/worse after being run then left for a while (i.e. started whilst still warm) my money is on an injector problem

Not had any issues with my RR but I replaced two injectors on a previous car. Both times the problem was significantly worse when started from warm. Ultimate solution was to replace the faulty injectors.

That said, a couple of bottles of Redx cured a similar stutter on my wifes BMW 320D
I believe it was caused by the car not really doing any long trips before we bought it (36k in 5 years)

Try the Redx solution first - its cheap and wont damage anything.

The instructions say to put x amount in a full tank - I once spoke with a chemistry techy at the company who make it and he recommended a full bottle in 1/4 a tank or less if you really want it to work properly - this is what I do.... 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

ok, with that info it does sound like an injector problem. DOes it feel like a misfire/like one cylinder is not running correctly?

You need to get it plugged in to identify the fault, and which injector is throwing up a code, cheaper than trial and error. Sorry but i have not had to use any of the indys round here yet, by all accounts Alan Smith Garages in derby is pretty good, however they were booked solid for a fortnight when i called to get a quote for some trailer electrics on my disco.

I also would run some injector cleaner through it followed by a tank of proper diesel, like shell optimax to see if that helps the problem but a code read should point to the answer. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
