Any FFRR without a towbar is a big plus to me. Who knows what it might have been dragging behind it for thousands of miles straining the drivetrain, gearbox etc.. Nope, in my book, no towbar equals easier life... Previously..

Agree with Gary,

I am not keen on all black interior, you need a lighter headlining - An acquaintance who has an AB with red leather and black rooflining said it was like being in a coffin Shocked 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

It's just personal choice... Black roof lining is, IMO, just one of the best interior mods available. Previously..

Depends when the towbar was fitted and how honest the seller is Smile

Mine only had a towbar fitted at 129,000 miles and has towed a 1900kg caravan about 7 times if that, and has been used a handful of times to rescue stranded vehicles and thats been it really!

A fair few have had towbars fitted and all and then the slot in parts get lost along the way Smile

Just because its fitted doesnt mean its been used Wink Park Heat for example with remote. A lot didnt get used once the remote went walkies and the FBH only got used when the engine got started Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

^ Agreed. In Canada, they come standard, whether wanted or not. Never used it but it's nice to know I can.

I have a NAS spec car with towbar but without the electrics and actual tow ball and I see no traces of it being used (scuff marks where the tow ball and locking pin go). So I think that RR2008HSE may be on to something that the towbar is mounted as a standard but in my case may never have been operational (if only the tow ball had been missing I'd say yes it could have been used but with the electrics also not being installed that becomes highly unlikely).

On the car shown at the start of this post, it is quite obvious that the ball is there and this makes it likely it has been used. Then again, it doesn't mean it has been hauling a big caravan, boat, horse trailer either. However considering the already "risky" other issues, I think it was a good thing to walk away from this car because the thought of something looming is not that great. And you'd be kicking yourself if the gearbox did go.

On the other hand even if the car had been hauling trailers around and the dented wheel did some damage to the suspension, that can be fixed and the drive train may be fine for a long time. You just don't know. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks for all the replies chaps, I am definitely walked away from the first car in this post, the salesman said he would call me later that day to talk through the fixes but I've heard nothing and I would assume he would rather not get the fixes done and sell the car as is to someone who doesn't notice the faults.

I bet he's never had someone scrutinize a car as much as I did, I literally tested every single feature in and on the car, I even took my floor mat to get underneath it - which by the way showed it had been offroad, not properly jet washed and was quite corroded in places.

I have 3 others at main dealers I am checking out, a deal may ensue soon! Discovery 4 HSE

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver

I noticed during some idle perusing this past week Whistle that Stratstone have a few 5.0 S/C's.

Your comments about the 5.0's refinement were divulged to a seasoned LR / Stratstone chap I've just chatted to and his remark back was in full agreement. He also reckons LR went too far with the 5.0 and constantly referred back to the 4.2 (mine, as a case in point as he'd just driven it back to me) as the more emotive choice.

But there's that lovely 8-speed 'box, better ICE and a little more power and torque to redress the balance.

Looking forward to further updates. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.
