As horrific as that looks I'm sure if that had been any other car then this would be an accident with fatalities |

I believe that one of the victims has died this afternoon. Looking at the car from my 30yrs as a paramedic I'd say that the passenger cell is actually pretty good (taking into account that Trumpton has sliced the roof off) & I agree that on any other car there would be no survivors. South West Scotland & Cumbria was in chaos last night due to this accident. I was in Penrith for a few hours but was heading up to Caldbeck common to camp in my Bongo camper van as I had work to do in Carlisle this morning, oh retirement is so tiring lol lol. |

I was in the queue of traffic held immediately behind this crash. We waited for 2 1/2 hours before the Police let us pass. Seeing the Rangie with the roof off and almost split around the bridge support was shocking. There wasn't much of the passenger footwell left from what we saw. Whoever was driving was incredibly unlucky as I doubt you could have done that again if you tried.

Looking at it i dont think the engine has gone under but has just gone back and that the footwells, as already said look to be heavily intruded but the rest of the safety cell has done bloody well! I'd guess at least a collision speed of 45mph for that |
