These type of cold air intakes usually don't work or even have a negative effect. I have written why in another post.

They do sound lovely though, I had them on my GS1000 Suzuki and the induction noise with a mildly loud pipe is brilliant. However the powerband suffered and the bike was better with the original kit back on.

It is possible to get a good cold air intake but then you have to do a lot more work to ensure the air flow into the inlet manifold is as laminar as possible to get the maximum amount of air in.

You can get a lot more effect out of "flowing" the inlet manifold. The inside surface is extremely rough (looks like untreated sandcast). That will create a lot of turbulence and drag. If you make that surface supersmooth (and that is one hell of a job) you will see power going up over the entire range with the original inlet I'm pretty sure. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

It's the sound I'm after. I wasn't aware that K&N did a CAI kit for the FFRR. I will take a look now.
I have a K&N FIPK on my S2000 and the sound is immense. 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I wasn't aware that K&N did a kit for the Jag engined FFRR. I have the Mina one from the states: http://www.minalr.com/jagxp/RR03-05/Performance/sc-new-Intake.htm

Takes a bit of fiddly fitting as my car isn't a NAS one so there's a few subtle differences. Mine runs ever so slightly colder than the stock intake, but it's smoother and has less restriction. It's definitely helped with the overall effect of the map, the gearbox needs to "adapt" now as it's a bit dopey at the moment. Stick the car in Sport mode though and it's a whole different world.

Next step is to modify the plastic intake piece and remove the resonator tubes off it. I've seen walkthroughs of similar on the Jags and it definitely helps add power. I'm not sure about modifying/polishing the intake plenum as I keep hearing opposing views on this. Should be a simple enough job if I can be bothered though as it's easy to remove it, just need torque spanners to put it back on or you risk damaging the throttle body.

Oh and Trommel, as for wideband I think the FFRR has that anyway with it's pre/post cat lamda sensors as it can detect lean/rich conditions. Since the map is taken from the tuners own car and it's been worked on for over 6 years I am hoping it should have the right AFR.

Sure it will have been done properly. Is the Denso ECU closed-loop all the time?

I believe it is as it alters all sorts of parameters right from ignition. I've seen it massively change timing and fuel trims (short and long term) using Rev.
