Totally agree : L322 2012 model for me in a few years time (I hope) Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'm confused and I'm not even thinking about changing!

If you are accumulating money by running your existing car while it is reliable, and seems to have been so, then I would be keeping it a while longer. The engine and gearbox in the TDV8 seems to be ultra reliable. At the first sign of issues time to use your bigger pile of cash. New and newer cars breakdown too so there is no absolute guarantee of never being let down.

BUT....

You have driven an L405 and that has weakened your resolve. Until then you were happy with your car (JE remapped 3.6 if I recall and providing the performance of a 4.4 TDV8 L322). Now the doubt has set in. If I had not driven the L405 I would probably have still have an 11.5MY L322.

However, if you think about buying a 3.0 TDV6 L405 then the delivery time will ensure that you may have to put around another 10k of miles on your current car. Which is the same as the point about keeping it made above. As for finance maybe your cash mountain could be put to another use during the 26 months it will deplete over.

I kept one of my FFRR Classic until 294k back when I had to and could afford to drive 45k-50k miles a year, mind you I think most of it was new by then. The cost per mile got less and less as depreciation stopped. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

Im in the buy a 2012 4.4 group.

As said new doesn't = reliability, especially with landrover.

And the biggest one for me would be, a personal disdain for the L402 styling. I think it looks crap, the inside is lovely and it is no doubt technically more advanced. but the 2006 facelift was the pinnacle.

I agree and we don't even know yet if the quality of L405 is a big step up from the L322, which would make sense for JLR in a big way, as that is one of the things that they severely lack on in any class.

I feel that JLR is working very hard to upgrade in all possible aspects, so I am expecting better reliability on the L405 indeed.

I would still go for a 2012 or even 2011 since I like the looks of the L322 a lot. I like my MY2006 a lot more to look at than the L405 parked in our parking garage. But nothing so personal as taste and IMHO all the people with FFRR (Classic all the way up to the L405) do have good taste, some just have better taste than others Twisted Evil MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Im in the keep your car for another couple of years camp, but buy a good warranty, incl courtesy car to keep you mobile should the ff die. Wait for the 405 to reduce in price and then get one, saving yourself the inevitable £25k you will lose on it in the same period, whilst building a larger pile of cash to put towards it.

if you want one enough you will end up getting one. Its just a matter of the best way of going about it....

I keep seeing newer ffrr on the raod than mine, 4.4 l322 mostly and pining after them, thinkng i should swap mine too, but its my favourite toy and cant bring myself to let it go even though its probably not the best ff out there and general abuse from the kids is starting to take its toll inside (nothing a good valet wouldnt sort). There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
