Rose gold will limit your market if you're thinking about buying it as an investment, stainless steel seems to be the most popular.

Other things that could influence the value are does it have the papers, box, receipt, extra links, has it been recently serviced etc.

Yes yes yes yes and not sure..... Has all the paperwork box original invoice extra links x3 etc etc

I thought if it had the solid gold strap. then surely that would make it more valuable than stainless steel!!!

As above, the only Rolex's that can retain a fair proportion of their value are steel models, usually sports, like Submariners, Daytonas, Subsea, GMTs. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Depends on your reason for buying it Craig. If its for an investment, and you're hoping for a good return, even in the long term, then almost certainly not. If you like it and it's a good enough price, go for it.

The second hand watch market is very fickle about gold. Obviously it has an intrinsic value, but watch purists don't see it as a reason to buy a gold model over the equivalent steel model.

If you're looking for a solid investment, stick to steel Rolex sports, anything Patek Phillipe(assuming you can afford them in the first place!) and Jaeger Lecoultre. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Thank you Allan, yes it's purely for an investment... A customer who wants to get out of some money worries offered it to me at "gold scrap value" so just wondered if it was a good buy...

Thanks for your advice, i'll steer clear... Thumbs Up

Craig, it is all price dependant but as allready mentioned steel models would be the way to go for as investment. Never the less it is money at the end of they, if the offered price is at "gold scrap value" I would still go for it.

I've got a mate who buys and sells Rolex, if you want his number I'm sure he will have a chat about it.

Y.E.S x 10!

Rose Gold is very hard to sell beacause it is really hard to wear, even for ladies.

You'll sell the same watch in S.S. in a day at the right price, this one, you will have to discount and be patient (hence why is is offered to you!).

If I may suggest, either invest in a nice model (Milgauss is the one to go nowadays ( Whistle ), + the obvious ones (Date justs, Submariners, Daytonas, GMT etc.) or invest in precious metals such as Silver or Gold (in bar form)

However, not even the latters are the great, stable, ever increasing, valuable they used to be.

Last year, after 9 years of ownership I sold my Air King for 150% of what I paid for it in a Rolex Store.
It had always been properly services and polished once a year at the local Rolex Store.

Watches can be a good investments, but precious metals are easier to shift or cary. You'll need a proper safe for either. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I agree, the rose gold Rolex can be a bid fickle to sell.
Get a Submariner or Yachtmaster in steel , gold and steel or yellow gold and you can not go wrong.
My trusty Submariner 16613 bought in 1996 for GBP3870 is no worth 4600 second hand.

I was offered a solid white gold Daytona , similar circumstances, looked like a huge bargain relative to RRP.
However it has the 'meteorite' face, which is really "marmite" taste...

I got a price from a watch dealer, and seemed that weren't that sought after, bit like the rose gold perhaps.

I use this site, they have a day date:

Get some quotes perhaps ? Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

my mate bought a stainless Submariner about ten years ago, he said it was the best watch he ever bought untill about 3 years ago when it was stolen from his locker in the sports club, the police said he was targeted.. he has since bought an other Submariner,a copy from a company that deals in just copies at £400, my point is that there is even high priced copies now, you must have to know your stuff, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
