TDV8 Turbo problems

Hi all
Has anyone had any problems with Turbos on the TDV8 engine Question

I have had a few problems that i think i have sorted by Driving it like it was stolen.

I was out in the car on a long isn (around a racing track) journey.
When i reached 120mph the engine went into limp mode, so i took it easy after stopping and resarting the car which cleared the fault.
I took the car to my local indie and he reset the car, Took it out again and tried to replicate the fault and low and behold it happened again. So reset the car again. Anyway i went to Manchester today so on the way back i thought i would try again. So i popped to the (racing track again) to give the car some BEANS and it went all the way to the limiter and no fault.

I think i had a sticky waste gate and it was jamming open causing the fault. Has anyone else had the same problem.
I would have thought that David (dhallworth)drove the car very carefully and it never went over 100 mph so boost pressure would never have got to maximum boost.

Could you not just have kept it in 3rd gear and floored it?? Revs would be the same and you are not driving at 120mph! Shocked Previously..

More likely if its been pottered about the WG was not opening enough and it overboosted as the load increased and went into limp mode Thumbs Up One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

No because it will automatically change up. I asked that to my indie.
He said it needs to be at full chat to have maximum boost or towing something heavy up hill a long hill to get the same pressure. 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

The further up the box you go the more load you apply and the higher the boost it will try and hit which is ltd by the WG. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Thats why the yoofs always end up blowing their cars up, they keep turning the boost up and get no DET in the lower gears, get em in 5th on a hill and they pink away and melt a piston Big Cry One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

120mph on presumed public roads is one thing

No on a track as said Thumbs Up

I was told by my indie the only way was at constant boost to make the WG work properly.

If you select the gear manually it should stay in that gear and not change up. you push the gear selector to the left to sport then forward for manual selection of the gears on mine. 04 td6. not sure bout the tdv8 but i would imagine it would be able to do this for off roading and heavy towing and the likes where you might want to hold it in a certain gear. '04 td6 se

It shuts down to save the engine and turbo. Its quite common if the car is just poodles around.
give it a try Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

What's the redline on a TDV8 anyway (and what do they top out at)? Just hold it near without going over in 3rd? On my SC the redline varies depending on gearbox temps, which is a bit annoying :/
