2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Orkney Grey
Parking sensor fault after 300 miles

Hi All

New Westminster, picked up on Thursday, no bumps etc since then. Got in the car tonight, selected reverse and received a tone and a flashing light on the sensor switch. After that, when I tried pressing the switch, it just flashed at me and then went off, sensors not working.

Would anyone have any suggestions before I book in to the MD?

Thanks

Sometimes the sensors get damaged by frost but I thought that was for the older ones. Since the car is new (as 2012 model ??) it could be a problem from assembly, one connector not plugged in properly and it came out or something along those lines. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks. Yes, it's a 2012 car. Will get it booked in tomorrow. A little frustrating. My first Range Rover though and a fantastic car so I won't let this spoil anything. Mechanical things do go wrong.

It is part of the problem with modern cars, to keep the cost "reasonable" they source components that are not too expensive and that means high volume production. Although those components are getting better and better it does not mean they are perfect.

For example, Mercedes used to require very detailed info on their light bulbs, down to filament diameter etc. That is what made them very reliable, that attention to detail. However their cost was high, they couldn't compete so their components are now also coming from the main component suppliers according to the available specs.

So all our components come from the same group of suppliers, especially electronics and electric components. So the quality of the RR components is the same as say Volkswagen. There may be A and B components but I am not sure (as that would be increase cost). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
