Won't start, help.!!!

So husband drove down to our bin shed today not a bother, 30 second drive. Got back in and wouldn't start. Wouldnt turn over, no noise at all, key turned all the way, all interior electrics fine, no warning lights.
Even tried spare key and nothing.

Tow company came out and jump started it not a problem. Said battery seemed fine but no power to starter? Also got battery checked few mnths back and they said perfect, could it deteriorate so fast all of a sudden?

Went to shops hoping it was a one off. Won't start again. I left it in underground car park. I'll collect it tomo.

If starter was gone would a jump start work so flawlessly?

The battery is a LR battery, assuming its originial could a battery last 7 years..???

Up till now car has started like a dream, but hubbie doesn't like to wait for glow plug light to go off before starting engine, could that cause any harm?

Will try find somewhere that fit those bosch s5 020 batteries in dublin tomo but I have a bad feeling that's its not as simple as that and ill be dishing out a fortune ...

It sounds like a classic battery fault. The cold weather will really show it up now. I had exactly the same problem. If there was a fault with the starter no amount of jumping would start it!
Edit... Make sure the earth is ok as well. I once had a battery lead that had fractured. Previously..

If your car starts with a jump start there's nothing wrong with your starter.
If it is the origonal battery, you've had your monies worth. Very Happy
The chances are your battery is faulty.
I could of cause be the alternator not providing sufficient charge but I'd be inclined to go with the battery first.

Make sure both the connections to the battery poles is tight. Even a little looseness can result in a bad connection. I once lost all power and it was a loose pole connection.

I know it's there for a reason, and I always wait for it to go off myself but just wondering if any harm can be done or if its an FYI type light that's telling u the glow plugs are heating up or whatever.

bought a Bosch s5 110Ah 920cca job in halfords drogheda one week ago.it was a tasty 189 euro but the 5 year warranty helps and it starts the v8 instantly.Money well spent.they will test the battery before you leave the store and will fit it if you want.......

just to add,on their website if you go through the guided battery sale it shows they sell no batteries to fit either version of the rangie and i confirmed it with the store manager in store that their computer shows nothing either...strange but true
Thumbs Up
