I only use Shell and will not use supermarket fuel unless no other choice. I even once drove 3 miles away from Sainsbury's in Sterling to find a Shell garage.

The cheapest, every time. Get me daily email from petrolprices.com and so I know where the cheap ones are. Mostly TOTAL and JET round here. Same price as Sainsburys. |

I once convinced my father to break with tradition and fill his car up at the local BP garage instead of the Asda store he filled at every week...

In st Andrews here we have 2 stations, morrisons supermarket or Shell.. They are both the same price!! We always use shell as I THINK it is a better quality product..... But... I have been told that ALL the fuel in this area comes from Grangemouth refinery. So are they making different fuels for different customers?? Previously..

Yer different stuff is made for different customers. I make the stuff and the base fuel is all the same it's then the additives that get added for different markets. We supply a massive area from our refinery and sell to all customers so in essence you get the same stuff wherever you go. Shell/BP just put some extra bits in to make the gogo juice a bit better. Rob... So do you have a different production line, so to speak, for shell/bp, or do you just add stuff to the base fuel before it goes into the tankers for delivery? And.... If you supply supermarkets, do they all get the same stuff then? Previously..

Without going to deep into it. We produce the same fuel which is then blended into batches. For instance V-Power has a different blend to the standard stuff, but vpower is special stuff. When the road tankers come in they select what there loading and then that's dropped into the tanker. The base fuel is all the same spec and depending who the customer is depends if they have extra additives etc. We supply Shell, BP, texaco, Tesco, Asda, sainsburys, anyone you could probably think off so to make individual grades for them all would be a production nightmare if they all wanted different grades etc. to put into context we hit a record not so long ago with 21million L leaving the site in one day!
