just had new box fitted 2 weeks ago, on drive home nice and smooth but seemed to lack a bit of power.

Not an expert, but could be the linkage rather than the box ?

well just had a call from garage and the new gearbox is faulty.is being picked up

Still rough as a badgers bum and the 205 may have been better, at least there were a lot less electrical things that broke on it... Oh and ask them if its had ALL of its safety recalls like the faulty brakes and seatbelts and so forth... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
