Transf failsafe mode

Hi guys

For a few days now when i start the car i get the ding then the message trans failsafe mesg,
Now i had this a month ago and limped home in 4th gear etc then turned everything off car was fine next day had the vehicle booked in and checked and turned out my radiator was shot,so had it all replaced etc no issues car ran fine, now its coming on again had it put on diagnostic its not storing any faults on diag so what else can it be?i had the fluids changed on the gearbox,it is a recon box with torque convertor fitted in 2010 car has only done just under 5k since its been fitted,if i turn of the ignition then back on again, the fault clears and the car is ok?
Is it just a gremlin in the electrics or is something major going to fail? The car is sat quite a bit and i start it up after few days to keep the batt charged etc
As any of you guys got any ideas
Regards
Clive

Can you complete your car profile please (makes it easier for the right people with similar cars to comment) .

Does the TRANS FAILSAFE PROG message appear before you've even selected Drive?

Most likely either a low battery voltage issue or possibly a faulty transfer box shift motor potentiometer.

Start by testing the battery condition and do an amp drain test. The vehicle so go to sleep after 16 minutes or so. In sleep mode you should have a reading of 0.01A to 0.02A anymore than this will discharge the battery quicker. Earlier models had more issues with battery drains as they have several operating systems trying to work together. If you need any help on doing the test I'm sure they will be a thread on here or you can just give me a ring. ( My number is 01132539000 )
Thanks

Might be worth getting a solar top up charger if you are leaving it 4/5 days. Plug into the accessory socket in boot area. Remember to unplug before starting car!

But if it is not the battery that needs replacing, the dreaded shift motor beckons. £700+ for strimmer motor and some gears Twisted Evil .

My TD6 does this occasionally when I muff up a start. Dash goes ding and Trans safe mode pops up. Reset start car and all fine.

Hi guys thankyou for the replies
I have the car booked back in at the garage that did the work for the issue previously they said diag was a coolant sensor on the gearbox so was the radiator leaking etc,now i am getting the trans safe mode everytime on start up coupled with Hdc now so does that aim more towards a flattening battery?i ran the car yestd turned it on chime turned it off back on again mesg gone and drove perfect for over 60miles came home tried it this morn ping trans safe mode then hdc fault?
Is it electric gremlins and now my dsp keeps disapearing on the screen then no sound from the stereo no moisture in the leads in the rear bone dry oh bring back my range rover sport supercharged not one issue with that range rover so much for a vogue being top of the tree eh?
If anyone could help me before the car goes into the garage id appreciate it
Regards
Clive
