Was any work done to the gearbox during the service?

You need to check the levels then.

With the engine running and gearbox at around 43°C put the box into each gear for 3 seconds then into park, next remove the level plug on the side of the box, the fluid should just be dripping out and no more. If no ATF dripping out it will require topping up.

Might be best taking it back to the garage who did the service and watch what they do to check it.

Just to emphasise that you must have ‘Park’ selected when the fluid level is set – clearly it would be risky to be working under the vehicle with the transmission in gear. However, each gear position should be selected in turn & held for 3 seconds before Park is engaged (to ensure that the valve block galleries & clutch lines are filled). The most critical thing is that the engine should be ticking over while the final level is being set and that the sump fluid temperature is between 35 & 45 deg. C

i did think it was slightly glitchy whilst driving the previous weekend, but put it down to driving another car all week. The mrs had been driving it more than me lately but she would only notice if it didnt start.
