Wheelnuts- changes to type according to MY?

Hi All!

Quick question- I have come by a lovely set of 2010 MY alloys and tyres which I want to fit to my 53 plate Vogue. Will I need different wheelnuts, and what is the difference between the nuts on the older cars and the later ones?

The search button gave me more questions than answers..... Thanks in advance

Yes you will need bigger nuts - lol. Actually they are just a couple of mm bigger in diameter. You can get a set for about £40 on eBay. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

The dimensions of the two different wheel nuts are obvious when you insert them onto the wheel (try this before mounting the wheel) New style nuts will not fit onto earlier wheels and old style nuts will be loose in the aperture of the new wheels.

The length from the washer to the end of the nut is 20mm on both types but the end where the socket fits is longer on the new type and will therefore stick out further.

The other difference between the two nuts are the depth of thread which each can take.
The old nut has a depth of 28mm and the new nut can accommodate 45mm

Finally beware of cheap copies, you really don't want to loose a wheel at 70mph Big Cry
