On the odd occasion mine has had a mind of its own and displays dimmer or brighter than normal. But it's always fine on the next drive. I'm guessing there's an ambient light sensor which is supposed to adjust the brightness accordingly, but sometimes it gets it horribly wrong.

My guess is in the screen unit, but I've not really looked. |

its the cold.....mine goes dim on start but after its warmed up its back to normal...

+1 we get lots of phone calls trying to get this rectified... Always the cold!

FYI the light sensor is above the navigation button in the top right corner. |
