Re-pinning a Bluetooth module?

Hi everyone! I've just bought a full Bluetooth kit off eBay; the seller says it is from land rover, and it includes all the bits. My I worry is firstly, If the module was bought from LR uk, does the module still need re-pinning?

Is there any way to check from the serial number or cable colours?

If it does need re-pinning, anyone have instructions and/ or a diagram?

Thanks!

David

Hi, thanks Daveo, it's a 2003, and seems to have wiring in place ( well, a 3-pin connector where the mic should go at least!)

I'll post pics of the connector in the car tonight, but I don't have the unit in my sticky mits yet!

I've seen the l322.com re-pinning tables, and I' scared!! Embarassed

Also, I can't figure out how to sort out the pairing button. Neutral Can I simply wire in a push button in the boot or centre console, or do I need to fork out for the full monty cradle jobby?

Thanks!

David

Locating the mic cable is good, but you need the 54 pin connector in back. I assume you've seen that from L322.com? (still available on the way back machine)

Sorry, can't help here... Wink I'd say pour yourself a strong one and go to it -but the pins are quite small. Take pics for yourself so you can replace everything if necessary.

A button in the boot is fine - I can't tell you the pins off the top of my head but the info is here in the forum. Or Ajay will be along shortly with the proper pins. (23&24??? Don't know why that just popped up - do not take that for granted though!)

Um, gulp, I can't find a 54 pin connector.... Shocked

Had a good dig around tonight, even going so far as to take out the tv, amp and radio, but nada.... I have the white 12pin connector, and I have a three wire connector where the speaker goes, but no 54 pin jobbie in the boot.... Big Cry

Am I completely finished?

Any way to retro fit, or is it an absolute no-no?

David

Thanks Daveo. Well, there is nothing in the space which contains the amp, tv and radio. Had em all out.... Don't think there are any cubby holes etc where it could be hiding.

L322.com talks about a loom if you have no pre-wiring in the boot:

http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=137728

Any ideas how it might fit?

its a fair job, need to go under the roof lining and various other bits of trim have to come out..have you looked right down, under where the radio and tv tuner are push down as if you was trying to touch the mudflap
dig deep down in here.

Thanks Daveo, you are a font of knowledge! Isn't it a metal floor? What do you mean by "push down"? There is some sort of black rectangular box with vents behind the tv and amp (ie towards the wing) should I get that out too? Is there a void under there?

MIght lso ask Dan at duckworths if he can check on my VIN whether it was pre-wired......

my plug was way down, looking in the boot, on the left where all the nav, radio ect are,you need to push you hand down to the bottom of the inner wing, if you look at my alpine unit with the 2 yellow plugs, under that i have the Sony infra red unit under that you will be in the thick of the loom, you need to dig around there, you now know what it looks like, it must be there as you have the plug for the mic and thats all part of the same loom V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

If you can see the white 12 pin connector (X400) and nothing is attached to it then you don't have the phone loom Exclamation

This doesn't mean you cannot fit a bluetooth ULF kit but you will need to source a loom with a 54pin black connector for the ULF with a white x400 plug to connect into the cars main wiring harness.

The following PDF shows the wiring for an X400 plug.

http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...wiring.pdf

The above is fairly straight forward and as others have said you can put a pairing button in the rear rather than the centre arm rest.

This just leaves the microphone Shocked You will need to drop the plastic cover in the roof headlining which has the sun roof switch and take a look for the mic - If fitted it will be on the opposite side to the sunroof switch. If not you need to try and locate a spare black 3 pin plug that the mic connects too:

If you can find this then the other end will be in the main wiring harness in the rear which you can connect the mic cable from your new loom - If not then you will need to run a mic cable from the rear up into the roof lining.

Just a quick update to all those who gave me info on this. This kit arrived and I think I have struck gold. It all plugged straight in, and worked first time! It has a 13th gen ULF, and the updated microphone, plus a "remote" button for pairing.

Thanks everyone!

David
