Just been out to check...... +ve terminal of the battery has a substantial metal 'T-piece' attached to it. There seems to be some sort of relay connected under the 'T' from which the main (red) cable goes into the engine compartment - presumably for the starter motor. On top of the 'T' there is another cable attachment which runs into a plastic covered loom carrier at the back of the battery and goes off into the body - presumably for all the ignition-on items. ![]() There are no signs of anything 'left loose' or stuffed down the side of the battery at all. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom ![]() |

Mine doesn't have the switch at all, I've looked all round the footwell area to find it.

No good for that..... What I omitted to say was that I had to keep the switch depressed (either way) to achieve the 'ignition on' result. ![]() Still not got an answer as to whether or not this is how it should be though. ![]() ![]() |

I always thought it was the transport mode switch so that when the car is strapped down on the low loader the suspension didn’t do anything. Much like the inhibit switch on the classics. |

This is an odd one for the switch to turn the ignition on - over on RRNet, there is a thread about a similar switch being installed for US spec vehicles to disconnect the battery. This was to avoid battery discharge whilst the vehicle was being shipped to the US and in lengthy storage. As most of us know a battery on a FFRR discharges over a couple of weeks... |

have you checked and double checked the battery Ken, mine had a dead cell which speeded up the discharge to 2 or 3 days as well.

OR: They found the "actual" problem and fixed that for 50p and then charged you/LR warranty £150 for a replacement battery? ![]() |

no definitely a new battery, saw them fit it. |
