I have in a fit of peak done the rounds to see if I changed car what the service interval was like.

Firstly I checked other more inconvenient JLR dealers & booking in times were all about four weeks. Then I checked alternative cars , thinking I would just chop it in…both Audi and BMW mumbled three or four weeks; which may of meant longer.

Certainly not satisfactory , maybe the new reality ? Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Dealership are now saying the SOTA is failing because of the additional immobiliser and are saying it has to be removed. It is a condition of my insurance and it being fitted was agreed before purchase. letters not necessarily in the right order

Ask them if they unhooked the battery under the drivers seat (which is difficult to get at so the may not have done so) and fully reset the system. This is what the LR Assist man said to do.

Mine also has an additional immobiliser fitted. It also won’t update the software. But when it was left for 6 weeks while I was away it then did update the software (which suggests a system reset may have occurred while it was standing). Now I’m driving it again and it wants to perform another update it’s failing again.

I’m off for another 5-6 weeks soon which will hopefully sort it again. But what a pain that it needs a full reset before every update!

I doubt it has anything to do with the immobiliser….. MY23 D350 HSE

Thanks for your input.
Do you have any non LR electricals other than the immobiliser on the car. Which immobiliser do you have. letters not necessarily in the right order

Yes. I have used the same systems on several RR’s and other marques without an issue. The guy I use to fit them is a professional with years of experience with most high-end vehicles including supercars.

Please PM me if you want more details. MY23 D350 HSE

Mine randomly decided to update itself last night after multiple fails over the last week or so. And the 3rd-party immobiliser was definitely switched on while it was updating. I’m on version 3.3.3 now. MY23 D350 HSE

Got the car back
There is an immobiliser deactivation key and program, having done this the car successfully installed the SOTA.
The immobiliser was then re-activated.
So next time I will try that myself. letters not necessarily in the right order
