Interesting, thanks RDR. I've just completed 1500miles in one month of taking delivery of my p440e HSE. The overall MPG is showing 65mpg so far. That's with around 700 miles in hybrid, the rest shorter journeys in full EV mode. On a long run of 200miles in hybrid its showed 41.5mpg using the JLR sat nav to plan use of the battery which I think is pretty good considering its a fair old lump. I found the battery drained around the 150-175miles mark if I recall and it was on full petrol by then with just mild hybrid retained for slow starts

Just wondering, do you plug the car in every night to keep the batteries fully charged, and is that via a domestic 13A socket or via a dedicated charging unit ?

The overall p/mile would be a more interesting comparison, as Yousif says, mpg figures are very misleading, especially if you don’t do a lot of longer journeys. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Mpg is misleading, I’m staying away from raising overall cost as it’s a can of worms. I’m really lucky to be able to charge from solar or cheap rate. Having owned BEVS since 2014 and still do as a commute car I know personal use case is critical to weighing up options.

Swings and roundabouts depending on whether you have charge and the length and speed of your journeys. Here’s three sections of a road trip I did coming home from the alps at the weekend in the P440e (see pics).

See that Harry Metcalfe cancelled his partly because of poor efficiency in EV mode - looking at the official figures, m/kWh is poor but not miles away from other big, heavy stuff. |

I’m looking forward to the longer journeys to enjoy the car but know it won’t be as efficient as diesel unless I charge. I won’t let charging impact a holidays I’ll just suck up the inefficiency 3 or 4 times a year.

I saw that as always it’s a good honest review from Harry, the car could be better but it’s big, heavy and a very capable 4x4 and to balance all of its capability and still give 50miles range in EV at 5c temps is impressive. When I handed the keys back for our first bmw i3 it could just about manage 60miles on a full charge. Things have come a long way in 7 years! I have had two p440e and Harrys review on efficiency has made me think twice. There are still huge benefits in relation to emissions etc. These are not my calculations, they were in a tweet after the review was posted.

Yep I would not touch one if you’re paying 33p a kilowatt to charge it at home. ev opens the door to charging tariffs so unless you can work around charging it at certain times on a decent tarrif stay clear of this phev. Get home plug in and forget about it, wake up to a full battery charged on cheap rate.

I have a P440e on order. The EV range was a significant plus point for me over P400e. Currently run XC90 Twin Engine with 20 miles at best EV range. Average mpg over last 4 years is over 55mpg. I achieve 30mpg on petrol only. With up to 50 miles EV range I expect a big improvement in overall mpg with the P440e based on my mix of driving.

I did a petrol only round trip of 135 miles last night it was unplanned so the battery was flat. The journey app says 31.6mg going and 31.3 coming back mostly motorway and I wasn’t hanging around.

Much as I respect Harry's honest reviews I think he has made an honest mistake in estimating the efficiency of the P510e on full electric.

Harry's review did also put me off somewhat. I'm in a Disco currently which is my first SUV as been a bit of a petrol head in the past with fast saloons but I really enjoy it. Have been considering switching out to a Range Rover, more so now the Model S Plaid in RHD isn't coming.
