LR Experience day today.

Went on the free half day experience todayat Skipton with my mate, I did all the driving today as I'm back there tomorrow with him for his session, went round in the 4.4 TDV8. My god that thing is smooth. I just love it's effortless power and makes a nice noise, I'm envious of anyone that's taken delivery of a 4.4 now Laughing

All in all, a good day out, learned about a few aspects of off-roading that I didn't know about. I'm looking forward to tomorrow now as a passenger.

One thing I did realise though, the car was silver with jet leather with ivory headlining and piano trim. Whilst it was nice, I thought it was a bit of a bland combo. The black leather wasn't very exciting and looked like it would get grubby quite easy in terms of fingerprints etc, the main centre dash pad, dare I say it, looked a bit cheap looking too, the black didn't really suit. I think the Ivory interior would look a lot better.

I've taken a few pics but have left my camera in the car, I'll upload them later.

No doubt I'll get some better pictures/videos tomorrow as a passenger. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Glad you had a good day Mark. I had the 4.4 tdv8 a month ago when I went to the SW experience centre and it is a great engine. I wasn't overly impressed with interior. No major improvement on the older L322 models. Did you have a go on road. I gave it some beans with the flappy paddles. FFRR TD6 HSE

Yeah I had a drive on road, didn't go nuts though as the guy had said the police are usually out in force on sunny days to catch bikers so didn't really get to stick my toe down too much, when I did, it certainly seemed quicker than my current 4.4 petrol.

Some pics..

As said, not 100% convinced by the black leather and dash, makes it look a little dreary IMO.

Misted up tail lights, blamed on being jet washed daily, surely that shouldn't affect them?

I did like how neat the new switchgear looks though, the AC & heated screen buttons etc are a better and nicer design I thought.

I'll no doubt get a few more pics as a passenger tomorrow.

lol at the misted tail lights. The one I drove had the same problem. When I mentioned I to the chap he didn't spout any rubbish about jet washing he just said "it's a land rover" and laughed. It's been a design fault since 2002 and they still haven't fixed it. Laughing FFRR TD6 HSE

Yeah I've seen loads now that's misted up, I'd be a bit annoyed if my 3k mile car started doing it though. 2006 Mercedes CLS

It's good fun and a great insight if you have zero off road experience such as myself. Me and Matt are thinking of doing the Level 1 full day course in the near future.

Some pics from today, I didn't do any driving today but again, was very worthwhile, first time I've actually been a passenger in a FFRR Laughing

Amazingly, the wheel was still on the ground, I was impressed by the articulation the standard car has.

that light is disgraceful Laughing

were they 'standard' road tyres?

agree that the black interior does look a bit cheap and tacky - but thats not purely on landrovers
