1700w audio

ive seen pictures of 405s with what looks like a loudspeaker on the rear of each front seat - just below the head rest. is this part of the 1700w upgrade system?

i thought AB's had 1700w as standard yet can't see any AB's (or in fact any cars at all) currently for sale with 1700w system listed as a feature

.... and fantastic. By chance my 2 year old AB had it fitted and I love it. I hear things I never heard before in some of my old music and the bass rattles the seats if you want it to.

The standard AB audio is OK, but the bass reproduction is a bit wooly/buzzy, at least in classical music, and for my ears a step down from the audio of the 322 WM.

The 1700 system seems now to be available only as a pack with RSE, though there is a 'delete RSE' option (no cost) which might mean that one could get 18MY on with the better audio and no RSE (but at the full cost). It was pretty expensive even before the pack cost of over £5,000, at least £4,000. Alas I don't have it. Only Range Rovers since 1988

further confusion.....

this car has large screens stuck on the seat rears (which look like an obstruction!) just where those loudspeakesr i was aaking about would be, yet the listing states its got the 1700w option?

You need to make sure the grills have the Meridian badge on them, the definite giveaway is the speakers above fronts seats in roof and seat backs and additional speakers above rear seats in roof also. some have dummy grills on the later seats but without the hifi upgrade, so make sure it has the roof speakers or check build sheet. Thumbs Up

do you mean that if theres no grill on the rear of the front seat then its NOT a 1700w system?

how do i find the build sheet for a car I'm interested in?

what about this car... says Meridian reference 1700w system but there's no grills on rear of front seats?

The 1700 system should have speakers on the back of the front seats. The 1700 audio plus big screen were combined in the "Signature Entertainment Pack", >£7,000.

I think if you message the LR Customer Relations person on the LRCR section of the forum she can organise the build sheet for you. Some dealers are not brilliant at identifying spec. Only Range Rovers since 1988

That link shows a car definitely without the rear seat speaker grills and no roof speakers so that has not got the 1700 signature system. The 1700 signature system has additional speakers, 29 in total; 4 of which are in the roof and three in the back of each seat seats plus additional speakers and tweaters. You will know it if you see it and definitley when you hear it

The 18my has options for sound similar to the 13-17my

meridian sound with 13 speakers and 380 watts
meridian surround sound with 19 speakers and 825 watts
meridian signature sound with 29 speakers and 1700 watts

Personally i know its a lot of money, but worth every penny.

The signature system also has speech enhancement hence the roof speakers and 3d sound.

sorry to be a pest - which of my two links are you referring to?

both dealers in the links i posted specifically claim that the cars they are offering have the signature 1700w system. do you mean NIETHER car actually has this system?

Correct, neither have it.

The one with Ivory interior and rear seat entertainment screens has speaker blanks, it was due to the change in the upper seat articulation, same as the old L322 BMW seat. You will see that upper part of the seat adjusts and notice the secondary button on the side of the seat also. So no this one doesn't have it.

The second one with Black leather also doesn't have it either as no speakers in the seat backs.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Look at this link on LR Approved, you will see speakers in roof and rear seat backs
