Decided as it was drier and less cold, to get under the car and see if I could see any obvious reason for HDC INACTIVE. I found this....

had similar on speed sensor wire on my car....£17 part, so easy fix |

It's worth checking when on a lock, as tyre was only touching when on partial lock, and not in the straight ahead.
