I've searched and searched, and believe that mine has the upgraded diff as it has the 2006 facelift.

It says they introduced it with the Jag Engines, but the TD6 wasn;t changed. I assume the did all diffs though ?

It's a July 2005 TD6 with the 06 facelift/reverse cam/touch screen , can someone confirm i don't need to go and check please and get all wet

Best thing is to check with your servicing dealer. When i booked my service this year they mention the diff modifacation to me. They then done whilst car was in for service. no problem at all.

Best to check with a dealer, but when I got my 55 plate (Nov 2005) it was the 06 model year and they told me the diff spec had been changed so they didn't suffer the same failures as the old ones.

if you are lucky enough to have service history invoices it should be marked on that...mines a june 2005 and i had the diff done in july 2007... ... - .- -.

What year model does your chassis number show Scarey?
(it's the number before the A in 10th or 11th place on the VIN number)

@ avi..mines the middle one with the old square front grill ,no dip in the front bumper but with a touch screen nav unit.

Not as such, but you could see where in the sequence it came with the last 5 or 6 digits after that letter A. ie, if it was earlier or later than another 5 model.


I'm sure someone (Gaydon maybe?) would have records for which sequences of chassis numbers were made when. They could probably even tell you the day.

Older LR owners can contact Gaydon (I think it's them) and find out when they were made to help build a case for free road tax (pre 72) where it's made in 72, but registered in 73. So exact records are kept and accessible.

Mine's a 36 so that confirms it's a 2006MY, just in case someone had facelifted it and worked out how to fit reversing cameras . I believe there's some 2006 Models registered as early as May 2005. Mine was registered in July.
