Me trying to be a clever git I've just reset the gearbox calibration settings on my 06 supercharged with the iid tool. Problem is now the gear changes are awfull. Very aggressive thump when going through gears and erratic changes.

It was fine before I messed now who's the tool

Any help appreatiacted.

I know all too well about what your going through and its not good news.
You will probably now need at the least, a new Mechatronics unit if its anything like what mine did after such , possibly even more.
Rule is, never delete anything on the transmission, below is a sort of description about what happens.

The gearbox "learns" to compensate for wear & tear and adapts to it so you don't notice it, i.e. shifts stay smooth etc.
If the adaptions are cleared and this also applies with a software update, this is all cleared and its then set up as a new car would be. Sadly its not a new car and therefore it will change gears like the box is knackered, flash warning lights & go into limp home mode after the reset. The fix to put it right again will probably result in either a new mechatronics unit and/or a full transmission rebuild, both very expensive.
Same could apply to even a full fluid change.

Oh dear it does look like I'm a bigger tool than the iid tool then. I really can't believe I've done this. Thanks for the input though.

Might be worth trying a software update before spending big bucks....

Try a software update by all means but make sure its the real thing i.e. a genuine land rover one and NOT anything less, this I cant stress enough.

I'm sure I've read something on here about how the gearbox needs to be put into a 'learning' mode after major surgery and this allows itself to re-calibrate the settings.

It may have been on ebajema's gearbox thread. I would have a search and also drop RRPhil a PM - he has massive knowledge and is very helpful

We had ours rebuilt 18 months ago by TES Transmissions in Westbury, Wiltshire. It cost about £3000 but they did a fantastic job and fitted a brand new T/C.

I've had this on a 2006 SC and I got my local stealer to re flash the software... Picked it up and it was even worse than when I dropped it off! I thought "ahh well, that's that then" spoke to the service manager who plugged it back in the following day. After waiting with baited breath! It worked happy days... Second time around

I thought when you plugged in iid tool for the first time it made a full backup? Then if something goes pear shaped you can restore all settings back ? Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Your right Conner it does, but it cannot put the old user data back into the adaptive memories of the engine or gearbox... Presumably it's lost into oblivion when you press "RESET"...
